Who doesn't like a classically poached pear?
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/2 - 1 Cup Orange Juice
1/4 Cup Honey
1/2 Cup Port Wine or Tawny Port
1-2 Cinnamon Sticks
1/2 Tsp Nutmeg
Peel the pears leaving the stems on top. Place into a deep oven safe pot.
Add sugar, orange juice, honey, port wine, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and nutmeg to a bowl and mix.
Preheat oven to 300F degrees.
Pour liquid mixture in a sauce pan and heat on stove till a slow boil arises. Cook for 4 minutes.
Pour mixture over pears in the deep pan. Cook in oven and spoon liquid over pears every 15 minutes. Pears should be fork tender. Enjoy with Andy's Frozen Custard!
