It doesn't get more vintage than this one. Salisbury steak. Prepared correctly this is a very comforting dish with flavors that will make you relax back into your seat. Thyme mixed with grass fed beef in a savory mushroom gravy. It is an all American dish, dating back to the early 1900's. Taste a bite of the past with this recipe.

Ingredients


Steaks


1 Lb Ground Beef, Grass Fed


2-3 Slices of Day Old Bread, Crumbled


3-4 Sprigs Fresh Thyme (1 Tsp Dried)


1 Egg


3-4 Dashes Worcestershire Sauce


Gravy


6-8 Button Mushrooms, Sliced


3 Tbsp Butter


3 Tbsp Flour


2 C Beef Broth


Directions


Step 1
In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the steaks and mix well. Form four 4oz patties. Heat a large cast iron skillet to medium high and cook steaks 5-6 minuites on each side, or untill outides are nice and browned and remove from pan. 


Step 2
Add butter to skillet to melt. Place sliced mushrooms into skillet and cook down untill tender, season with a few dashes of worcestershire sauce. Sprinkle flour to coat and then stir and cook for 1 minuite. Add beef broth to pan and stir. Turn heat to medium and place steaks in sauce. Keep on medium heat untill the sauce has thickened. Done! Serve with mashed potatoes and some green vegtables.
